He recently completed his work as Chairman of the Board for Applied Materials, a multi-billion dollar leader in semiconductor, display, and other technologies. Previously he served as the company’s CEO during a decade of rapid growth and success. Prior to Applied Materials, he was an executive at Intel Corporation, serving in a number of key positions during his 20-year tenure.

Tom is the former Chief Investment Officer – Private Markets for the University of Wisconsin Foundation, the official fund-raising and gift-receiving organization for the University of Wisconsin-Madison with an endowment over $4.0 billion. He oversaw all private market investments that include partnerships with many of the premier global private equity, private real estate and private debt funds. Tom also assisted in setting the endowment funds asset allocation targets during two stints as interim Chief Investment Officer.
